At the last HERCA Board meeting in Warsaw, the members of HERCA Board elected Mrs Karla Petrová as next Chair of HERCA starting 1 January 2018. She will replace Mr Sigurður M. Magnusson, Chair of HERCA since 2012.
On the 6th of March 2017, HERCA organized in Vienna a third and last multi-stakeholder meeting on the optimised use of CT Scanners. The objective was to promote the collaboration between stakeholders on the issue of education and training with regards to the optimised use of CT scanners.
Starting on 8 November 2016, national radiation protection authorities from 18 European countries will conduct a special series of inspections in radiology departments and practices. In the framework of the Euratom BSS Directive, HERCA organised on 24-27 October 2016 in Paris, two multi-stakholders workshops on (1) Generic Justification of Medical Exposures using Ionising Radiation and (2) Accidental and Unintended Exposures with major stakeholders from the medical field.

The final report of the 2nd radon workshop, organized by HERCA, with the participation of ILO, WHO and IAEA, is now available. Some recommendations underline, in particular, the need for international tools for the radon dose calculation and for European guidelines to facilitate the implementation of the new BSS requirements.
