At the last HERCA Board meeting in Warsaw, the members of HERCA Board elected Mrs Karla Petrová as next Chair of HERCA starting 1 January 2018. She will replace Mr Sigurður M. Magnusson, Chair of HERCA since 2012.
Optimised use of CT Scanners: last HERCA Multi-stakeholder meeting
On the 6th of March 2017, HERCA organized in Vienna a third and last multi-stakeholder meeting on the optimised use of CT Scanners. The objective was to promote the collaboration between stakeholders on the issue of education and training with regards to the optimised use of CT scanners.
HERCA launches a European inspection campaign to assess patient radiation protection in diagnostic radiology
Starting on 8 November 2016, national radiation protection authorities from 18 European countries will conduct a special series of inspections in radiology departments and practices. Their aim is to assess the application of the justification principle. By monitoring existing practices, the European authorities hope to identify routes for further improvement in patient radiation protection.

Multi-stakeholder Workshops on Generic Justification and Accidental and Unintended Exposures
In the framework of the Euratom BSS Directive, HERCA organised on 24-27 October 2016 in Paris, two multi-stakholders workshops on (1) Generic Justification of Medical Exposures using Ionising Radiation and (2) Accidental and Unintended Exposures with major stakeholders from the medical field.
Workshop on the implementation of the HERCA-WENRA Approach with participation of civil protection competent Authorities
HERCA and WENRA jointly organised on 14 and 15 June 2016 in Bled, Slovenia, a workshop on the implementation of the HERCA-WENRA Approach for cross-border emergency preparedness with the participation of civil protection competent authorities.
