HERCA Board met on 30-31 October 2019 in Rome, Italy. Several subjects were discussed such as the preparation of HERCA strategy or the work done by the 6 WG, especially the launch of the Awareness campaign on medical applications.
HERCA Board met on 15-16 May 2019 in Liverpool in UK. Several documents related to the implementation of the HERCA-WENRA Approach, the development of the awareness campaign on justification of imaging procedures and the veterinary off-site imaging procedures were approved. HERCA Board members also exchanged with IRPA president on views of professionals on the radiation protection system.
Users of Hand-held X-Ray Equipment can received insufficient information about the radiation hazards induced by these devices. HERCA issues this statement for raising awareness about these risks and ensuring an appropriate use of these devices.

HERCA organised a workshop on how to inspect Justification and Optimisation in Nuclear Medicine on 6-8 Nov. 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden. This second workshop, was addressed to experienced inspectors from radiation competent authorities members of HERCA.
HERCA publishes a leaflet for describing the regulatory requirements and giving useful practical advice about radiation protection in an off-site setting to veterinary professionals and the public.
HERCA decided to issue a position paper inviting HERCA members to share actively future monitoring results in case of abnormal observation.
The HERCA Guidance on the Implementation of Radiation Protection Expert and Radiation Protection Officer Requirements details the different options for implementation of the Euratom BSS Directive requirements and provides a common understanding regarding these requirements.
HERCA issued its position paper which addresses the requirements of the Euratom BSS Directive regarding the justification of new types or classes of practices in the medical field.
